The Same Love Garden celebrates marriage equality in an outdoor space conceived as an extension of the interior sanctuary hall. With help from singer Macklemore and many other donors and community members, the garden formed around an historic tree and includes a crushed rock gathering area, seat wall, and donor pavers around the tree, an impressive rolling gate along the street, and a ramp and stairs to maximize accessibility and welcoming of the church’s community members. A lush palette of plants serves both as a backdrop for weddings and a means to capture stormwater runoff.
