This project provides safe access from an upper residential neighborhood down to Mt Baker park. Informal, slippery paths over a steep, weedy hillside are replaced by stairways and an asphalt path. The asphalt path is not accessible but still provides stepless access for bikes and strollers. Boulders and exposed aggregate paving provide seating and informal gathering, and mark the entry into the hillside space. Extensive native plantings add beauty and stability to the project.
